I’m Dave, the craftsman behind Artifex Crafted. I create custom cabinetry, furniture, CNC projects, and ready-to-order wood products for people who value thoughtful design, careful construction, and work that feels personal.

Where It Started

My woodworking journey began in a high school woodshop in Northern California. One of my first projects was a classic Shaker pie safe. Building something useful from raw material—and seeing it take shape through patience and precision—gave me a sense of pride that has stayed with me ever since.

Experience That Shows in the Details

In 2002, I began working professionally in finish carpentry and cabinetry. I started in tract homes but soon moved into multi-million-dollar custom residences, where every joint, reveal, finish, and final detail had to meet an exacting standard. More than two decades in that environment taught me that lasting quality comes from doing the small things right.

The Artifex Crafted Approach

After years of creating pieces for family and friends, I founded Artifex Crafted in 2023 to bring that experience directly to more people. Today, I work on projects ranging from custom cabinetry and one-of-a-kind furniture to personalized pieces made in my Northern California shop.
